HÖGBERG,HOGBERG,SWANSON,SVENSSON,ANDERSON,LARSEN Hello! My name is Katrina and I am looking for any additional information related to my Swedish relatives. This is the information I have found to date: Anders(Andrew) HÖGBERG, born in Sweden on Jan 01, 1835, with his wife, Anna(Anne) HÖGBERG, born in Sweden in 1831 or 1832, immigrated to the US (I don't know when)with their son, Peter HÖGBERG, born in Sweden on Aug 3, 1862, and his wife, Hilda HÖGBERG, born in Sweden on either Mar 19 or 25, 1863. Hilda's maiden name was SVENSSON(SWANSON) and she is possibly a twin. I also have an old passport of hers which shows that she returned to Sweden to visit relatives between May 6 and August 5, 1925. Her passport also gives the name of her birthplace as SANDSGÖS or SANDSGÖÖ (Although I think it is probably misspelled and should be Sandssjö or something similar to that). Peter and Hilda had a son, Edwin HÖGBERG, born in 1888 or 1889 in Bloomington, Illinois and a daughter, Rose HÖGBERG, born on Sept 25, 1892 in Lexington, Illinois. All of the above mentioned family members left the US and moved to Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, sometime between 1892 and 1903. I have heard that they might have come to the US from Sweden with a brother (I am not sure whose)and a Frank LARSEN. Frank came to Canada, but the brother did not. Peter and Hilda had one more son, Andrew HOGBERG, born in 1903 in Fanny Bay, BC, Canada. Hilda's passport shows that she was naturalized as a Canadian in 1903. I also know that the HÖGBERG family that moved to Canada changed their name from HÖGBERG to ANDERSON at some point after they arrived in North America. I have death certificates for both Anders(Andrew) and Anna(Anne) and they have the last name HOGBERG. Their children, Peter and his wife, Hilda, have the last name ANDERSON on their death certificates. Some other general information that I have is that the men of this family were professional hunters and trappers and used to do this for local butcher shops in the US. On Anders(Andrew) HÖGBERG's death inquiry (he was murdered) it states that he was a farmer and that his religion was Methodist. Edwin HÖGBERG(ANDERSON)was my great-grandfather and his son, John Peter ANDERSON was my grandfather. If you can help me at all, please e-mail me at the address listed below. Ni är välkommen att svara mig i Svenska. Jag kan prata både Engelska och Svenska. Thank you so much!
